Railway Employee Self Service (RESS) is an online system for Indian Railway employees that has been developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). This application allows railway employees to access and view various work-related information such as personal bio-data, service details, salary particulars, provident fund/NPS details, salary-related loans and advances, income tax information (including monthly deductions), leave and family details, pension benefits (available for retired employees only), and more. Users also have the ability to download their payslip, PF/NPS ledger, and e-PPO in PDF format.

The registration process for RESS involves ensuring that one's date of birth and mobile number are up to date in IPAS. To register, employees need to follow these steps: Touch the "New Registration" link in the application and enter their employee number, mobile number, and date of birth. A verification code will be sent to the provided mobile number, which needs to be entered to complete the registration process. The verification code serves as the password for future logins.

Registered railway employees can access a range of features within RESS, including viewing personal bio-data, salary details (both monthly and yearly summaries), downloading monthly payslips in PDF format, checking provident fund (PF) ledger status, viewing NPS recoveries during a financial year, reviewing loans and advances details, accessing income tax projections and digitally signed Form-16 documents, checking leave balances, viewing family details, examining various allowances like OT, TA, NDA, NHA, KMA, Child Education Allowance, as well as retirement benefits and downloading e-PPO for retired employees.

In case of a forgotten password, users can reset it by following these steps: Select the "Forgot Password" link in the application, enter employee number, mobile number, and date of birth. A password reset OTP will be sent to the mobile number provided which will serve as the new password.
